Counting-up Subtraction Method With Money

 

  • First, count up to the nearest 10 cents.

 

  • Next, count up to the nearest $1.00.

 

  • Next, count up to the nearest multiple of $ 1.00

 

Example: What change must you return if you are handed $ 20.00 and the bill is $ 12. 67 ?
