Triangles 

 A triangle is a polygon with

·         3 sides

·         3 angles

·         3 vertices (the vertex is the point where two sides meet 

Equilateral Triangles: 

 An equilateral triangle is a triangle whose:

• 3 sides all have the same length
• 3 angles all have the same measurement

 Can you guess the measurement of each angle in an equilateral triangle?

Hint: The sum of all 3 angles in a triangle is always 180 °. 

Right Triangles: 

 A Right Triangle is a triangle with one right angle (90 °). 

A right triangle can never be an equilateral triangle. The side opposite the right angle is always longer then the two legs of the right angle. 

Can a triangle have more than 1 right angle?

Hint: Remember, a triangle must have 3 angles, and the sum of all three angles must equal 180 °. 

Can a right triangle be an equilateral triangle?

Hint: Remember, the angles in an equilateral triangle must all be the same. Can a triangle have three 90 ° angles?

 Isosceles Triangles: 

 An isosceles triangle is a triangle that has two sides of the same length.

 Scalene Triangles: 

 A scalene triangle is a triangle whose sides all have different lengths.
